Easy nighttime hacks to lose weight

#1.) Stop eating by 7pm

If you can make it 6pm, even better. 7pm is a good stop time because most evening meals are consumed by this time and it gives you a good couple of hours to digest your meal before going to bed.  Doing this alone will help you lose a lot! I tried this for 5 days and lost 5 lbs! I did nothing else, didn’t even change my diet!  The science behind this can be found in this book called, the 8 hour diet. It’s a GREAT book (under $10) and not a fad either.

 

#2.) Do some light stretching or yoga

Doing some simple evening yoga will help you dose off to bed easily and get a good nights rest. Getting good sleep helps you lose weight too, no joke.

#3.) Take an after dinner walk

This is great to burn off the days last calories. So, you’ll eat dnner, which will be your last meal of the day, then go walk. Easy.  Walking also helps to tire you out and contribute to more restful sleep.

#4.) Go to bed early

This helps you get more rest AND prevents you from doing after-dinner snacking.  Find it hard to go to sleep, even with walking and bedtime yoga? These melatonin snacks  will help you drift off the sleep.

Also, wind down. This means turn off all electronic devices, yes I know it’s hard.  You can read a relaxing book and drink chamomile tea until you doze off. This will make a difference and you’ll be able to feel it.

    Eating before bed is something I am so guilty of. I also eat a big supper sometimes like an hour before sleep. Not good at all!

    Thanks for the helpful hints. Many times for me I take the walk before eating because I eat around 6:30. I should probably cut back on the wine too:-)

      I’m in the same boat with you about wine. I have a nice glass of red a few times a week. I think walking before dinner will be just as effective to be honest. It’s great to just get moving. Thanks for your comments.

      Cool! My sister’s coworker started incorporating daily walking into her routine and lost 40 lbs in about 3 months changing nothing else. I’ve started walking regularly to be more healthy and drop a few pounds too. I try to stick to the 7pm rule but I slip up sometimes. A work in progress haha. Thanks for your comments.

    Thanks for sharing these tips! I had heard some of them but not all of them! I’m so bad at stopping eating by 7…I typically don’t get dinner until about 7:30 BUT I try to stop eating 2 hours before bed….baby steps. lol

      Lauren, that’s a good rule to live by/ stopping food 2 hours before bedtime. Ya, stopping eating by 7 can be tough. I started by making it 9 then eased my way to 7. I’d like to do 6 but I just don’t see that happening. Our house is so busy then. Thank you for your comments.

    I love taking evening walks after dinner. Not necessarily for weight loss but a mental break from the day before going to bed.
