You read right! You can lose weight with this protein filled iced coffee drink. Ok, so it’s an iced coffee shake.  Yum, even better right?

Everyone struggles to lose weight. It’s hard, let’s face it.  Then, throw in the challenges of daily life:

The list goes on and on.  That’s why, we’ve found a cool, fun and tasty way to help you shed those extra pounds.  Iced coffee is delicious, refreshing and gives the much needed caffeine boost that we all crave and need.

Iced coffee protein drink: You’re gonna learn what’s in it, how to make it, and how it works! Here we go.

Can you really lose weight with iced coffee?

The answer is yes! Now, to be clear, this is NOT the sugar-packed coffee chain frozen drink you get from your local cafe.  This iced coffee protein shake is packed with protein, fruit, and yummy healthy stuff to help you drop pounds and keep your weight in check.  Here are the ingredients and recipe.

Recipe (from Listotic)

SERVINGS: Makes about 2 servings (~115 calories/serving)

INGREDIENTS:

  • About 2 Cups of Ice
  • 1 Cup Cold Brewed Coffee
  • 3/4 Cup Almond Milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 frozen banana (chopped)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla or chocolate)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all of the ingredients (no particular order) in a blender and blend until smooth.

TIPS:
To mix things up, you can also prepare this drink puréed and poured over ice. Note: This does lower the servings.

For the perfect icy consistency start with less ice and gradually add more until desired consistency.

To add richness: Add in a little plain greek yogurt or peanut butter

Be bold and experiment by adding some of your own favorite ingredients (Flax meal, unsweetened coconut or almond milk, unsweetened greek yogurt, flax meal, coconut milk, etc.)

Make sure to use a protein powder that you love. If the protein powder taste is too overwhelming, try using 1/2 a scoop, and add a little plain greek yogurt.

You can also use more or less banana depending on your sweetness preference (psstt..more frozen banana makes it more creamy, like a milkshake).

It comes in a bunch of varieties. My little guy drinks the vanilla and I love the unsweetened vanilla. It’s great for this recipe because the unsweetened vanilla version is only 30 calories per serving!

And, it is really tasty. There’s no comparison between this and real milk. It’s adds a lovely flavor dimension to your coffee shake.

My husband did this (sans coffee, as he’s not a coffee drinker) and lost around 30 pounds in 1.5 months.  He has always been prone to quick weight gain and quick weight loss so your results might differ.

Why it’s awesome

    Wow…you know what, I LOOOOVE coffee and especially ice coffee. And yes, you CAN lose weight on coffee especially if you add protein powder. I dig your recipe! I’ll have to try it out for sure! 🙂
